Evaluation- comparing my product's use of conventions to a real media product

Similarly to the real media product, my product uses a logo, which helps the audience recognise the author. In my product's case- the school to which the audience is familiar with. Also a bold title stands out to highlight the importance of the aim of the magazine. However, the real media product's title stands out more clearly using a larger font size with a white font that stands out on the black background. Coverlines are conventionally used in the real media product, however my product does not show off the contents of the magazine as much as the Athlon Sports magazine. The main image also does not stand out as much as the basketball magazine, which uses a close up shot to attract an audience, whereas mine has too much dead space which is not particularly necessary, the real product also uses various other text and images to fill the page, therefore advertising more of the magazine on the title page, for example, "FREE" and the bar code which fills space in the bottom corner of convention magazines, however my product is not being sold and does not require the bar code.
