Evaluation- Target Audience, how they were addressed.
The target audience of the media product is a niche- as the magazine will be produced for Trinity School only, both the pupils and the staff may be interested, however, the product is primarily aimed at the pupils of the school, in particularly those who are fans, or are interested in sports.
The contents of the product are primarily based upon stories, images and sporting news that will hopefully encourage children at Trinity to participate in sport, promoting a healthy lifestyle. For example, the staff's experience will help to encourage pupils, using the dialogue of interviews provided by sixth formers who will produce the content of the product. The imagery used on the title page will help to encourage pupils, who will aspire to be like the healthy, sucessful sportsman as portrayed in the images.
The sixth formers will also provide tips and advice for pupils looking to get involved, and even those who perhaps are not so keen, so that a larger audience is attracted. The magazine will be a monthly, free of cost magazine produced by the school, therefore it will also be advertised around the school to catch potential reader's eyes.

Evaluation- representative social group & what institutions might distribute the product, and why?
My product represents particular social groups using imagery, and the use of logo and text. The product is aimed at Trinity School, and in particular, sport-fans or sporty pupils. The content that is made clear on both the title page and contents page concerns sports both internal and external that would appeal to sporting students at Trinity School. The use of imagery, such as the sixth former playing basketball, makes clear of the product's aims; to show off the excellence of sport at Trinity.
Due to the target audience concerned with my magazine product, the school would most likely be the distributer of my magazine, as the product would be free of cost to pupils in the school, educated them on sporting news at Trinity School.

Evaluation- comparing my product's use of conventions to a real media product
Similarly to the real media product, my product uses a logo, which helps the audience recognise the author. In my product's case- the school to which the audience is familiar with. Also a bold title stands out to highlight the importance of the aim of the magazine. However, the real media product's title stands out more clearly using a larger font size with a white font that stands out on the black background. Coverlines are conventionally used in the real media product, however my product does not show off the contents of the magazine as much as the Athlon Sports magazine. The main image also does not stand out as much as the basketball magazine, which uses a close up shot to attract an audience, whereas mine has too much dead space which is not particularly necessary, the real product also uses various other text and images to fill the page, therefore advertising more of the magazine on the title page, for example,
"FREE" and the bar code which fills space in the bottom corner of convention magazines, however my product is not being sold and does not require the bar code. Tuesday, 31 January 2012
